{"id":1485,"date":"2016-03-15T19:25:35","date_gmt":"2016-03-15T19:25:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/?p=1485"},"modified":"2016-03-23T02:33:11","modified_gmt":"2016-03-23T02:33:11","slug":"procession","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/?p=1485","title":{"rendered":"Procession"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Procession at Home Sweet Home<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At least one Sunday night a month can be salvaged by taking a plunge into the dark-dance night calling itself \u201cProcession.\u201d It is held in the depths of a dank, underground basement called Home Sweet Home on Manhattan\u2019s Lower East Side. <a href=\"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/bartender.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/bartender.jpg\" alt=\"bartender\" width=\"520\" height=\"353\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1487\" srcset=\"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/bartender.jpg 520w, http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/bartender-300x203.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/a>The long bar, manned by a beautiful androgynous bartender, is well enough lit by battered, kitschy and mismatched chandeliers, and livened by a mounted taxidermy specimen of a menacing carnivore, but the dance area is gritty and unselfconsciously punk &#8211; a lumpy stone pavement.<a href=\"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Joe-Hart.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Joe-Hart.jpg\" alt=\"Joe Hart\" width=\"520\" height=\"326\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1489\" srcset=\"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Joe-Hart.jpg 520w, http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Joe-Hart-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nDJs Mark Cage Knight and Joe Hart spun out popular pieces from Nick Cave and obscurities like O. Children. Mark, Joe and Joe\u2019s gorgeous girlfriend, Rachel welcomed arrivals &#8211; both friends and newcomers, warmly.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Rachel.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Rachel.jpg\" alt=\"Rachel\" width=\"260\" height=\"388\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1488\" srcset=\"http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Rachel.jpg 260w, http:\/\/doktorjohn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Rachel-201x300.jpg 201w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 260px) 100vw, 260px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbout 30 late nighters filled the cellar-like space. A melange of genders and sexual persuasions were in attendance. There were 3 bathrooms &#8211; one for men, one for women and one \u201ctake-your-pick.\u201d Patrons were a mix of jeans\/sneakers-clad hipsters and High Goth fashionistas. About ten people were present on the dance floor at any given time.
